About Looksee
Food labels are written by marketers, not nutritionists.
“Natural flavors”, “made with whole grains”, “no artificial colors” — these phrases mean almost nothing. Looksee cuts through the spin and gives every product an honest score.
Try it nowWhy we built this
We kept reading ingredient lists we couldn't parse.
E471, “modified corn starch”, carrageenan — the back of a cereal box reads like a chemistry exam. We wanted one number that told us whether a product was actually good or just positioned as good. So we built it.
Looksee is independent and free forever. We believe transparency about what you eat is a basic right, not a premium feature.
How we work
Open data, always attributed
Looksee draws from Open Food Facts and other community databases covering millions of products across 200+ countries. Every data point links back to its source.
Science-backed scoring
Our Looksee Score combines Nutri-Score (nutrition), NOVA (processing level), and additive risk into one honest number. No proprietary black boxes — the methodology is fully documented.
No sponsors. No conflicts.
We don't take money from food companies and we don't sell advertising. The score a product gets is based entirely on what's in it.
Built for everyone
No account required. Works on any device. We started with food and drink — cosmetics and household chemicals are next.
The score
One number. Three signals.
The Looksee Score runs 0 → 100 and combines three independently validated frameworks. Higher is better — but every sub-signal is visible so you can see exactly why.
