What to know

A natural sweetener produced by bees (Apis mellifera) from flower nectar; composed mainly of fructose (~40%) and glucose (~30%) with trace enzymes, amino acids, minerals, and antioxidants. Raw honey retains antimicrobial properties from hydrogen peroxide and phytochemicals; commercial processing and heating may reduce these compounds. Not suitable for infants under 12 months due to the risk of Clostridium botulinum spores.
