What to know

A polysaccharide (E412) extracted from endosperm of guar beans (Cyamopsis tetragonoloba); used as a thickener and stabilizer in dairy products, sauces, and gluten-free baked goods. A soluble dietary fiber; at sufficient doses (5–10 g/day) it may help lower LDL cholesterol and improve glycemic response after meals. GRAS; some individuals experience bloating or loose stools at high doses.
